Arthros

Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 2026

Our commitment

Arthros is committed to ensuring that arthros.ca is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across all pages of this site.

Because our patient population includes people living with inflammatory rheumatic disease — which can affect motor function, vision, and cognitive capacity — accessibility is not a compliance checkbox for us. It is a clinical responsibility.

Current status

We believe this site is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Known areas of ongoing work are listed below. We audit the site regularly using automated tools (axe-core) and manual keyboard and screen reader testing.

Technical specifications

This site relies on the following technologies for WCAG conformance:

  • HTML5 with semantic landmark elements
  • ARIA attributes where native HTML semantics are insufficient
  • CSS for visual presentation only — layout does not depend on CSS
  • JavaScript for interactive components (forms, mobile navigation, filter)

Known limitations

  • Charts on the patient demo: ePRO trend charts (Recharts) currently lack data table equivalents. This is being addressed in Week 8 of the build.
  • PDF attachments in Evidence library: PDFs from external publications may not be fully accessible. We link to original publisher sources where available.

How we test

  • Automated: axe-core via axe DevTools on all key page templates
  • Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements reachable and operable via keyboard
  • Colour contrast: all text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for body text)
  • Screen reader: tested with VoiceOver on macOS Safari
  • Zoom: all pages functional at 200% browser zoom
